Radio City Christmas Spectacular
As I give some of my thoughts, keep that in mind. It was fabulous as usual, this being the third time I have seen this show in NYC. I understand this is relatable to many of the attendees but did not like the costumes or the dance. I personally did not enjoy the part about the mother and daughter shopping for Christmas and the 3D video game part, (lack of ) that the Gimme Gimme Disco performed. Otherwise, a flawless show as on prior occasions.
I found it a bit annoying how the cast members were placed in front of them singing, although the ice skating part was never my favorite part of the performance. I just thought of another part that I did not like as much as in prior shows...the part where the couple ice skates. If you want to show an ice skating rink, maybe the people should be "regular" folks who still ice skate beautifully, but not an obvious professional couple. You really couldn't see them very well so I wonder why they were in the show. I cannot remember what they were wearing...maybe they had on street clothes.
The colors were so vibrant, and the costumes were spectacular. Seemed like there were less animals, which I liked as I do not like the use of animals in theatre. I liked the nativity scene much better this year. Seems like it would be stressful for the animals to be on stage in bright lights and loud music just for our benefit.
I am not talking about children. The people in front of us kept moving back and forth talking, and the teen in front of me had a hat on that was totally blocking my view. Also, I think there needs to be an announcement not only about cell phones but about people wearing hats and talking during the performance. I politely requested she remove her hat, which she did, however that should not have been my role.
